Welcome to the official website of the Ritchie County Clerk's Office (Ritchie County, WV). The Ritchie County Clerk's Office is the official repository of all records created within Ritchie County. The Ritchie County Clerk serves as fiscal officer of the Ritchie County Commission and receiver of fees charged for instruments filed and recorded within Ritchie County. In addition, the Ritchie County Clerk is responsible for specific election duties and the management of all county records, including vital records (births, marriages, and deaths), deeds, wills, liens, and other records dating back to the founding of the county.

When submitting recording please be sure to leave a 2 1/2 inch margin at the top right hand corner of the first page for validation.
We accept 10 documents per check.
Also please send 4 copies of Sales Listing Form.
There will be a $35.00 service charge on all returned checks
Please call the office and schedule an appointment if you are needing to do probate.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Please note that you are not able to pay property taxes on this page. You need to go to the tax office page.
The Ritchie County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, February 16th, 2026 for President's Day.
